KRAFTON Confident in Ongoing Growth of ‘PUBG’ IP, Says Rival Titles Have Minimal Impact
KRAFTON has expressed confidence in the continued growth of its flagship IP, ‘PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS’.
During the company’s Q3 earnings call held on November 4 (KST), KRAFTON Chief Financial Officer Bae Dong-geun stated that despite the recent launch of competing titles, ‘PUBG’ has maintained a stable growth trajectory.
“The launch of ‘Battlefield 6’, a competitor to ‘PUBG’ on PC, had a slight impact on traffic”, said CFO Bae. “However, recent data shows that while the concurrent player count for that title is declining rapidly, ‘PUBG’ remains solid”.
He added, “Over the past eight years, numerous competing titles have emerged. Yet, ‘PUBG’ has remained an evergreen IP because we view competition as a catalyst to further engage players and provide compelling content, creating a virtuous cycle”.
Bae also noted that “PUBG MOBILE experienced similar traffic fluctuations following the release of ‘Delta Force’ and ‘Valorant Mobile’. Nevertheless, effective monetization strategies have led to year-over-year revenue growth”.
KRAFTON plans to release several anticipated titles in 2026, including ‘Subnautica 2’ and ‘Palworld Mobile’. The company is also preparing to launch ‘PUBG 2.0’ early next year, featuring a variety of new gameplay modes.
